About Francine Kizner

I started my writing and editing career at Entrepreneur magazine as a copy editor in November 2004. By July 2006, I transitioned to an Associate Editor spot at Entrepreneur.com while the site was starting a redesign. I helped build the new site, creating new content channels and areas, reorganizing 10 year’s worth of articles and working with designers to get everything working well and looking professional. I was also managing freelance writers, updating content channels, writing daily blog posts, creating new content areas and compiling newsletters.

After the redesign was complete, I started taking on new media projects, editing podcasts and producing video for the site. I also started recruiting bloggers to join the Entrepreneur.com Blog Network. Ultimately, I brought 20 new bloggers onboard (see the list here).

The biggest project I had the pleasure to work on and really make my own was WomenEntrepreneur.com—a new site for women entrepreneurs to connect, learn and help each other grow their businesses. I recruited writers and bloggers for the site, created a content plan and editorial calendar, and worked with designers and developers to get the site up and running. Once it went live in May 2007, I managed its day-to-day operations, including its community functions, edited its columns and features, hosted a podcast and wrote a few articles.

I left Entrepreneur Media in November 2007 to travel in Europe, where I have been taking freelance writing, editing and web work, as well as blogging and working on other personal projects. I
lived in Budapest for two months, and London for six months, where I wrote for Londonist.com and Sugarscape.com, and became a community manager and blogger for Workology.com. I spent summer 2008 traveling around the world before returning to LA.

I have been freelancing for a few years now, writing the “Family” column every other week for online marriage magazine Hitched since its launch in June 2006. I have also written features for the site and help in its planning and promotion.

I write three newsletters a year for the Bureau of Jewish Education in Orange County, which I have been doing since January 2006. And I have also done some web and flier copywriting for small businesses and designed WordPress-run websites for businesses like Write-Communications.

My artwork has become less of a focus in the past few years, though I still keep sketchbooks and engage myself with small artistic projects regularly. I paint mostly with acrylics, draw in pen and pencil, and enjoy knitting in my free time. I draw many illustrations for friends as gifts, but would like to do more professionally.

You can read about my travel adventures and learn more about me on my blog, France to Go, or join my professional network on LinkedIn.

If you’re interested in working with me on a project, please contact me here. I would love to discuss your ideas further.
